Optional Hoop Butts

Hoop butts are a fast and easy way of finishing the back of your hoop and give a wonderfully polished finished.

The hoops are sent with a picture hook hanger fixing you can use to hang on a wall if you wish.

⚠️ Please note: The hoop butt sizing is tailored to securely fit standard hoop sizes, take note of the precise measurements below as they are not adjustable. ⚠️

The biggest variation is usually between the sizes for wood Elbesee hoops, and generic bamboo ones - but note there can be up to 1cm difference in different bamboo hoops, so please double check.

When measuring for your hoop butt: measure the inside of your inner hoop ring, you want your hoop butt to be 2-5 mm smaller, depending on the backing material: felt/wadding = 5mm smaller, linen or cotton = 2mm.

We strongly suggest using felt or light quilt wadding as a backing to not only provide thickness to secure the hoop, but also to maintain the smooth appearance of the front of your work by preventing any distortion caused by the edges folded behind the hoop.
